TENANCY TRIBUNAL DATABASE
– June launch
The Department of Building & Housing has advised
that the long promised on-line Tenancy Tribunal
database has been further delayed, due to software
problems, and will not be “launched”
until mid-June.
The database should enable landlords (and tenants)
to search a website containing all Tenancy Tribunal
decisions – albeit historic and after the
appeal period for each decision has passed.

Email Notifications Help
Keep Track of Tenancy Tribunal Applications.
It is now possible to receive an email to notify
you when the Department of Building and Housing
has processed a Tenancy Tribunal application from
you. This email will contain your application number.
You’ll also receive an email if your application
is sent to Swift telephone mediation to be resolved.
This new service will help you keep track of your
application, and be assured that it has been received
by the Department when you send it in.
To receive email notifications please provide an
accurate, clearly written email address when you
make a Tenancy Tribunal application.
If you have provided your email address and do not
receive an email notification within 48 hours of
making an application, please phone 0800 TENANCY
(0800 83 62 62). |

Get
Your Rental Property Insulated And Energy Wise For
Less Than Half Price. The Energy and Conservation
Authority (EECA) is offering NZPIF members a 55%
subsidy on a full house retrofit of insulation and
other energy efficient measures for any of their
rental properties. This offer does have qualifying
conditions:
- the property has to of been
built before 1978;
- the property has insufficient
in-ceiling and under-floor insulation;
- the tenant must be eligible
for a Community Services Card;
- rent must not be raised within
six months of receiving the subsidy; and
- the landlord is a member
of a New Zealand Property Investors Association
that belongs to the NZPIF.

Welcome Long Overdue Access to Tribunal Decisions
- The announcement by Department of Building and
Housing that Tenancy Tribunal Decisions will be
placed on the internet is great news for the rental
industry. The NZ Property Investors’ Federation
has lobbied Government for many years to make the
public documents easily accessible so that Tenants
and Landlords can have better knowledge when making
