"Investing through the Trough" |
Up to 12 months ago, people were
dreaming of the halcyon days of a slow market, when
things “used to be so easy” because
surely it was easier to “bag a bargain back
then”… well, here we are again, without
a doubt in a buyers’ market… and is
it all it’s cracked up to be for us investors?

Philip Borkin |
"Light at the End of the Tunnel?" |
Philip Borkin
will give a view of where we are today and see how
this stacks against where he thought we would be
at his last address to Capital Property Investors
Associoation last year. As
investors, the economic environment is something
we should be taking an active interest in as understanding
this helps us all to identify when to make investment
decisions. I highly commend Philip as a speaker.......

Election Year Political Debate |
June's meeting focuses on the political
theme for this year. We have a panel of politicians
coming to present exactly what their respective
party plans to do for us investors. If you are usually
ill-informed about who to vote for, you needn’t
be this year! Come along and ask them the hard questions
directly, and make an informed choice from the perspective
of an investor......more--> |

Steve Slater & Dennis Wright:
IRD Compliance Officer |
|
This time last year, Finance
Minister Michael Cullen said Inland Revenue would
get an extra $14.6 million over the next three
years to strengthen property transaction audits.
His rational was that speculative activity was
driving up house prices and household debt levels;
giving IRD more money would help it enforce the
law, recover monies owed and maybe take the sting
out of the market. The market has cooled down
somewhat (not because of Cullen) but for investors
looking to sell property, it is still very relevant
to understand whether or not you have to pay tax
when you sell. Some questions you may ask yourself:.

We have
all heard about renovations making investors a stack

finding problems, dealing with the council and consents,
down time, holding costs. As if we haven’t
got enough to do already! Come and hear the secrets
of renovation success from experienced hands and
profit from this expertise......more--> |
