Brent Gilchrest; Property Taxation and the Property Investor.

Property taxation is a topic that has become top of mind in recent months with property investors. Not only is there the issue regarding GST for residential property investors; boarding-house issues, buying off a registered vendor, Lease Options etc. Investors have lost the ability to claim depreciation on their buildings so now many property investors will paying income tax off their rental property investments. The IRD has invested a lot of resource into tracking down those trading; in the course of time Capital Gains Tax, will become a reality.

Brent Gilchrist has over 30 years of tax experience in New Zealand. Brent Gilchrist worked for 10 years for Inland Revenue before becoming New Zealand Tax Director for an international accounting firm. Brent Gilchrist has operated a specialist taxation advisory practice for the last 15 years.

As always, this will be another memorable member presentation; whether we like it or not, paying tax will be very much a consideration in the property investment equation so it will pay to understand your obligations well
